Hello

OH and I camped several times in our Outwell Carolina and we thought it would be nice to use the front and side doors as some kind of awnings next time.

Our only problem is that we do not know where to find the poles 17

I googled it several times but only find things related to caravan awnings 17. And I couldn't find any rigid tent poles in my local camping shop.

Do you have any tips as to where we can find some? We live in the Bristol/Gloucester area.

Thanks for your help.

Ellie

They are usually called "king poles". If you search for that, you should find some.

Obviously the door itself needs suitable loops on the bottom, usually small rubber rings. And you may need extra guys if they aren't provided with the tent.

We love the Carolina. We are new to camping as adults (I used to camp a lot as a kid) and we managed to put the tent up in under an hour the first time, which isn't bad, considering that I could only use one hand at the time!

The bedroom is a bit small I think, definitely not a 3 person pod, but when the weather is nice you could have some people sleep in the communal area.

The main room of the tent is HUGE and so bright thanks to all the windows!

My only "negative points" are: the bedroom (a bit small) and the fact that it can be really hard to "lock" the steel poles at the bottom of the tent and also the fact that the front door is not very convenient when it's raining, but we can still use the side door.

We are very happy with our purchase so far 17 We still need to see how it will do in windy/heavy rain conditions.

A great tent for a couple in need of a bit of comfort 17

Hope this helps, and if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask 17

Now that I know what to ask for, I will start my king pole hunting tomorrow!

Yeomans have a pair of Outwell canopy poles for £11.95 if there's a branch near you.

The Outwell ones at £11.95 are only 1.3 metres high - you need the 2.0 metre ones for the Carolina which are £19.99 at Yeomans but I think they are sold out. These come with 2 spare yellow guy ropes to match the tent and pegs.

you can get the 2 m ones which come in 4 sections connected by the usual elastic OR the Gelert adjustable which is one section 1.33m extendind to your choice of height to 2 m (amazon £9.49 post free etc). This is handy to give a slight slope to the awning door and stop rain coming back towards the tent.

The doors of the Carolina already have eyelets in each corner so that they can be used as a canopy. Poles can often be purchased from eBay but as mentioned, make sure the poles are as high as the tops of the doors so the canopy is level if possible. You can get telescopic poles which would be handy. I am considering getting some myself...when i get round to it.

I have done a couple of reviews on the Carolina 3 which you may find helpful (or not) and here is a Utube link to the Carolina M (previously Carolina 3) being erected. It also shows how to pack it away again which is useful.
