As we are very new to caravanning we are slightly confused when using our heater via mains hook up. When the blown air heating is on auto and the van is nice and warm, it just clicks itself off and goes cold very quickly.  We thought that it should click back on itself as the temp drops to ensure constant temperature.  This doesnt happen.  Any thoughts please???????

Often the thermostat is situated too near the appliance and of course it tales longer to cool down in that area. What setting have got it on. Also when have you tested it because the outside temperature recently has rarely been below 10 degrees and sometimes warmer so it could be warmer than you think in the van!
