We've just got into camping I have chosen practicality over luxury. All 3 of us have a £7.99 camp bed. Won't go down, keeps you off the floor and just about comfortable for my 6'1 16st frame. They might not be cool but atleast I wake up where I fell asleep.
MMMNNN airbeds, Just like the Mrs, Full of wind and when their empty you know it's not gonna be nice!!!!!!

we use coleman double airbeds and have never had a problem, they don't lose much air either, topped it up after a week, whereas other people seemed to be topping theirs up daily!

I thought that if the goods were faulty and you lose your receipt your elegible for an exchange instore you only need your receipt if you wan your money back.I've used this system in several stores over the years and haven't had any problems GL

I have the problem of young children which are quite incompatible with airbeds, either sharing a big one results in my every move waking them up, or they roll into me, or I ping them across the tent when I get on, or if we use seperates then they slip down the gaps in between which is highly undesirable.
My hubby found a matress topper, I think it's an ikea job, which has a removable cover so we can wash it. Double bed size. I have yet to find a way to store it sensibly as if I keep it rolled up it may end up not evenly cushioned, but it's wonderfully comfortable. It's only foam, and on top of the cover I put a double bed sized fixed sheet just so it's not always necessary to take the whole cover off after a short trip away.
Definitely far preferable than air beds or the raised camp beds, and works beautifully with young children.
Oh we also had an old style metal deathtrap style camping bed which had a single foam matress on it, the metal part is very noisy and rickety but the foam comes away with us, in the pod with the other matress and that fills it nicely, though it's not so thick as the bed topper so I try to avoid an adult sleeping on it.
The children just get karrimats and they say that's fine. I remember that being fine for me for years, until suddenly one day in my 20s it started being REALLY uncomfortable. Strange that!!

Hi, we had our first camping experience this year and brought the colemans queen size double that is really high. This was great as we have 3 small children that often visit in the night. We were really pleased with it untill 3am one morning when it ripped under my husband shoulder!!!!!! a whole devastating 1 cm hole in the top of the bed!!!! Tried to find the repair kit and sort of fixed it with torchlight but the next night ended up sinking gracefully to the floor. I thought about buying 2 double not raised airbeds and putting one on top of the other then if one goes you do not necessarily end up on the floor. I thought Aero beds were the answer but have heard about them leaking too. Maybe a thermarest is the answer but they are quite low on the floor whereas i quite liked the high rise mattress!!!!!
But I might look into the Ikea foam thing. How wide is it do you know?
Thanks
------------- take care CJ

are you asking me? if so I know it fits a double bed fitted sheet, but other than that I'd have to measure it during the day as it's in the children's room just now and they are sleeping!!
