I'm a newbie camper, did my first trip last weekend in Devon and spent today looking round a new shop in Bristol called What! in Longwell Green on the same estate as B&Q. Its one of those cheapie bargain warehouses but they did have loads of tools and camping equipment at brilliant prices.
eg. single gas stoves £10
Pack of 4 gas cartridges for stove £5.80
Folding chairs £5
Solar lights, different styles but cheapest was 2 in box for £5
Tarpaulins 80p each
Melamine tableware £1 for pack of two plates, or bowls. Also had covered dishes, trays, cups etc.
Loads of other stuff like fleece blankets £3.20 and Sunncamp Leader XL tent for £30. Came back and looked that one up, usually sells for £60 to £90 so could be useful for someone.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Teepee. I'll head on down at the weekend for a look.
Like you, just joined UKCS and am in the process of getting all the stuff. Found this site very useful.

Hi Giggler, you just reminded me about trade-it, I keep meaning to have a look. We were going to buy a small camper van but my husband is a bit concerned we might not use it enough etc etc so I compromised by saying if we started with a tent we would see how things went. Will have to see if that one on trade-it is still available. My husband works at Rolls Royce and someone in work was GIVING AWAY a 6 berth tent, but unfortunately it had gone by the time he saw the ad. We are in Brislington, where are you?
Jules, it's B&Q Longwell Green, its a long way from Cheltenham so I hope its worth it for you
Hi Johno, thanks for the welcome.
Guest Speaker, nice to see another local. I tried out my solar lights today and they are working well so will go back and get a few more, didnt want to waste money on things that were rubbish, which is what happened when I bought a cheap 2 litre pump action flask from pound stretcher. It was cheap for a reason, the whole of the pump action bit fell apart and it was unusable after the first time I filled it up!
Anyway, sorry for the waffle, its just that I'm a bit keen and have all winter to get my stuff together, will be reading these boards every day to learn a thing or two

Hi Teepee, welcome to UKCS,
We are fairly new to camping and just got tent and all the kit this year after lots of great advice from this lot.
I think maybe that aswell as forums called "Tents" Equipment" etc maybe we should have one called "Bargains" aswell as often you will see threads started by people who have found great bargains and are good ebough to share the news....
Also if like me you can see the equipment you want to buy and want to know if anyone knows of somewhere selling it cheap, if you ask on here you will usually be advised by someone as to the best place to buy it.
We got our Coleman Bi-space 500 from Wildday.com for £150 when other sites were selling it for up to £300. We also got our cooker and camping kitchen stand cheaper than normal.
------------- Oh I do like to be beside the sea-side! Oh I do like to beside the seeeeeea!!....
