I bought two brass bushlite candle lanterns.
The actual length of the household candle that will fit inside the bushlite,is five inches.Any longer than five inches, you will find it will not fit.You will have to get a knife and cut the bottom of the candle so that it is five inches from the tapered top to the newly cut flat bottom.
The cut bottom of the candle must be very flat and even,or the candle will burn unevenly, and the entire glass will be encased in solidified wax,and so will the candle holder.
Safety wise,i personally find the brass ones pretty dodgy,as the three thin long lengths of brass that clip into small holes, can bend very easily and the brass can easily slip out of the small holes. The handle at the top is attached to the body with the long thin strips,so when i lift it by the handle, the clips simply come out of the holes, and i have to suddenly make a grab at a red hot all brass body to prevent it falling on the floor and smashing the glass.
The glass is not as tough as people say,as one of mine has shattered when i tapped it when washing it in the sink.Perhaps you can fill a sink with a thick towel before washing it,to prevent it hitting the sink edge?
Here is a link to a site that sell the accessories as individual items:

http://www.tedcarter.co.uk/product.php?pid=bushlite-candle-lantern-accessories-P-993

As for candle timing,i have just inserted a cut down five inch candle i bought from tesco,at 2.00 pm.I will let you know when the candle burns out completely in a few hours or so.

The candle has just gone out.
I put it in at 2.00 pm and it went out at 6.45 pm.
It lasted 4 hours 45 minutes.
I guess if i had cut the candle a couple of millimeters shorter,it would have lasted 4 hours 30 minutes. So,i would say on average, the candle will last 4 hours 30 minutes.

I know absolutely nothing about these lanterns and have very little interest in them, but the name took my eye, so I couldn't resist a look.  Isn't it surprising how you read what you want to read.
