this may sound like a stoopid question, but hey, i dont know the answer!!

with the digital switchover looming in November how will you be able to watch tv when camping? we have digital cable at home so have never thought about it. next season we are going to try an EHU for the first time and plan on taking a small LCD. i know there are set top boxes but will they work with a portable aerial?

im confused!

We changed over last year.  You shouldn't have any problems as long as you've got a set top box.

The only potential problem is if you are camping in the shadow of a hill, the you may experience reception problems.

you can get a freeview box for next to nothing nowadays. already got one in van and if cant get a decent signal . jack up sat system and suction dish to roof happy days

The problems are the signal strength & the position of the transmitters.  At the moment the transmitters are broadcasting digital signals at reduced power.  Mine regularly freezes & has to be re started with a good quality areal.  With a portable these issues are much worse.  Also, even when on full power, it is acknowledged that there will be many black spots with no reception for regular transmissions in rural/hilly areas.  The only option will be satellite in these places.

We use them for digital reception at home. They work ok but you probably need an ampified aerial.  We have used them successfully on campsites when caravanning but in our experience sites tend to be in poor reception areas and most campers and vanners appear to use a larger aerial on a pole
