Hi all, my first post so please be gentle with me!
Question is this: We have a Daxara 107 trailer for our kit which seemed ideal for all our stuff, but inside a season its not big enough any more! I have looked at off the shelf solutions for bringing the sides up, but these cost about £80+. This seems alot for what appears to be a few uprights of metal and a bigger cover. Does anyone have experience of extending the sides upwards themselves, and if so what materials would you suggest and what costs are we looking at? Am I just being a bit tight? All advice and suggestions gratefully received!
This topic has come up before, so if you can work out how to do a topic search you should get all the help you're after. The easiest way is to just get some external grade ply wood and drop it down the insides of the trailer. The stuff packed inside will hold it all in place. The original cover will still work, and I found the elastics still reached the original hooks. I just added a normal plastic tarp to give extra drop to the sides.
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
i used to make my own trailers and bought all parts from here.you can buy four corner post and bolt on or weld, then finish off with half inch exterior ply.most DIYS will cut the wood to size you require.
Its still going strong on its 2nd indispension units and 3rd set of wheels
Now passed on to my son
my trailer (6x4) is now about 25-30 years old and looks like new as it is constantly painted and repaired,is this a record??.just replaced the sides with decking planks so should last a bit longer.indespention units can carry 784 lbs.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
My trailer is similar. I used wooden sides with a wooden post in each corner that drop down into the trailer. No need to fix it to the trailer - it just sits on top and can be lifted out quite easily when not required.
Timber found in my garage as with screws. total cost £nil
I'm still discovering things on this site. I only recently spotted that there is a next page button bottom right, insted of using the drop down page number screen.
Picturers are a complete no no to me

Sounds like the street sweeper who still has the same sweeping brush he was issued with when he started 30 years before - but it has had 12 new handles and 20 brush heads!!
a cheap option for the sides,if you can get a collar from a pallet.you can use this to make your trailer.this gives you the wood sides and the corner fittings in one go.
