Saw an advert last night for Go Outdoors. A new store is opening in Cardiff on Saturday. Don't know how I didn't know this before but never mind do now! Hopefully that will wipe the smile off ABC in Swansea! Although it will be a shame if it hurt smaller places like OBI
Vikki, if you know where it is, and it's near enough for a speculative visit, go along beforehand. You may find it doing a "soft open", testing tills etc, special offers, but certainly selling - and minus crowds.
This is what our local one did, and we had the manager downwards running round, helping us with kit. They did our 2009 Orchy at the 2008 price, so we were well chuffed.
i went over to newport sunday to find the camping shop doesnt open on sundays & pontypridd is so small & i hate the way they watch you & the kids in abc!!
might have to go into cardiff this weekend for a drive!!
Just a thought for us all Go Outdoors does have a huge line of stock and they do price match but dont forget about the small guys that we used to go to like Bridgend Camping & Leisure might be a lot smaller but they have a good choice of stock and the customer service i have had from them was first class
just been down there - good for seeing things laid out that some of the smaller stores cant do - but i wasnt impressed with the prices.
will have a look in there to see things & then use the small shops or ebay to buy - shame a mackenzie 8 wasnt up in the outside section - i really wanna see one!
Just returned also - still a lot of stock absent - for instance I wanted a roll up water container - nothing. Poor selection of pegs, Fine if you wanted boots, shoes and clothing. Tent display half decent, but needs a sign to point to the area behind store as you could easily miss 50% of what's available.
Got my discount card, bought 3 tables and a kettle. Will go back, but in all honesty, Pontypridd Camping has so much more stock and is so closer, I doubt I will go often.
