I bought a Portico plus with easy alloy frame thinking that it was British and would have good instructions. WRONG, the frame seems to have been made in Germany and has no instructions, just a tiny, hard to see diagram. the awning 'instructions, consist of a card with a few pictures on and scarcely any useful advice on erecting the awning. In contrast, my Starcamp awning came with detailed instructions including photos. I have emaile Bradcot twice asking for useable instructions for my £400 purchase and they have ignored me completely. I have read on other forums about Bradcots appalling customer service, wish I'd read them before I bought because what I read is true. Once they have your cash they don't want to know. I will never buy Bradcot again

We have been looking to buy the portico+XL as they have reduced prices greatly. This could explain why, we were told by dealer that Bradcot had reduced them so much because of the economic situation. How did you find out they had gone bust? Another thing that concerns me is the guarantee and any replacement parts which may be needed in the future.

Bradcot have been on the brink for quite a while, but I did not realize they have now gone.  Still had a full page advert in the CC magazine for September (pg 101).  The website http://www.bradcot-awnings.co.uk/ is still live.

I have just looked at the CC magazine for October and the page ad. for Bradcot says they are at the NEC Show.  Surely they are still with us then.

Bradcot is owned by Salou Products and Bradcot Direct is still advertising and selling. if it had gone bust it would be in the hands of Receivers or administrators and wouldn't be allowed to continue trading pending their actions. I can't find any evidence that they have gone bust, but given their lack of concern for customers i hope they have.

Sorry if I am mis-informed however, I broke the pole on my awning whilst away and upon return tried Bradcot direct to no avail and was told by 2 dealers that they had gone bust. This was in May this year.

I didn't realize until reading on hear, that folk have experienced such difficulty with Bradcots customer service.  We had a Bradcot awning which we used for 10-12 years without a hitch at all.  It makes me think, thank goodness we didn't have a problem.

Famicon, I must be one of the lucky ones as I've not experienced any problems with Bradcot. That said, there are numerous negative posts on here and other forums.
Can I assume you bought the awning from Bradcot direct or was it via a retailer?

Hi we to have a Bradcot Portico Plus, and also a Bradcotcot Active Full awning both with easy erect alloy poles, they both come with the same instructions which we found easy to follow that said theres only 3 poles so its not rocket science, the downside if any to our experience was when using for the second time in strong winds 1 section of pole got a kink in it and guarentee had lapsed by 1 week and had to pay for replacement, they are still selling bradcots at all the dealers i know but will check to see if any bargains on the go just in case.
