Sometime ago there was a thread running on trailer security on campsites and motoway stop offs, but i have not found the threads,as i would like to offer my advice on the matter.

I have been using Apache hitchlock and this clamps around the hitch with trailer attached to car or trailer on its own, this can be purchused from www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com price £19.99 and stops the trailer from being taken when parked at campsite or motoways stop off, however unless one has a lockable hard top to the trailer, items from trailer are easy pray, and i have found a answer to this a 110db padlock alarm which is  a movement sensitive unit, replace the padlock supplied with the Apache unit with this alarm padlock, this can be obtained from www.cpc.co.uk and the part no is SR0737502  and is priced at £12.29 plus vat.

I got these in September and used on my last camping trip to Corfe Castle and had the Apache and alarm in use and one evening this went off and was triggered by a badger trying to get into the trailer after some bread my wife had left in there,so you see that the padlock alarm is very sensitive.(one part of the campsite at Corfe in front of playground there were badgers out every evening looking for food this is normal as i was told by the staff )

Get a Pitbull Terrier with HIV on patrol.  That'll do it.

that hitch lock is just what I've been looking for. My tt is pretty safe on the drive at home but i do worry when parking at motorway sevices. Do you know if it would fit a 1980's conway trailer tent?

We use the same as Valbarley when travelling along but carry a motorbike chain which goes through the A frame of the trailer & round the Tow bar mount bracket if we are stopping off on route?

Those little ALKO locks above can be removed in seconds with an automotive dent puller, as can any cylinder lock.

As said many times, locks only stop honest thieves without tools.  Fit the biggest, toughest hitchlock you can & store the thing somewhere secure.  Ground anchors & motorcycle chains are a good idea.

Have always wanted to see badgers and have Swanage area on list for a possible camp next year.  Did you actually get to see the badgers, and what was the name of the camp site. Thanks.  Will remember not to leave bread in the trailer.
