Advice Please. Can i run Propane gas through the CampinGaz regulator fitted to my camper if i change the CampinGaz screw on connection for a Propane clip on connection. Thanks William A.
Ypu can certainly replace the Campingaz regulator with a screw-on Calor one (the valve is factory-attached to the bottle rather than on the side of the regulator as on Campingaz).
Just a thought - check the size of your gas locker before you decide to change over - the smallest Calor (4.5 Butane/3.9 Propane) are larger than the biggest Campingaz ones.
Do you mean you have a bulkhead mounted regulator in your camper with the bottle connected with a pigtail? All you need to do is connect up the propane bottle using correct pigtail.
If you mean regulator is bottle mounted, then you just need correct regulator for whatever propane bottle you are using. Depending on size it will be either screw on or clip on. Any caravan shop will advise you as to correct pigtail or regulator.
Just to confirm there is a bulkhead mounted regulator with the bottle connected by a pigtail.
I could change the screw on connection which fits the CampinGaz for a clip on connection suitable for a Propane Gas cylinder
My concern was, if it was safe to use a Propane Gas cylinder with its different pressure to the CampinGaz through the CampinGaz bulkhead fitted regulator.
If your camper is modern & has had the universal bulkhead regulator fitted since new it will work with both butane or propane with any make of bottle. If the bulkhead regulator is Campingaz specific(never heard of one!)& has been fitted by a previous owner then bypass it & fit a bottle mounted regulator on your propane bottle.
Thanks again Arthur, the attachement was a Gem, all the information anyone working on their gas installations would need.
Thanks also to Hacksaw Bob.Was considering using a large bottle, but carrying it seperate from the locker and connecting it when required.
If you're carrying a cylinder outside the locker, make sure it's secure and will stay upright, of course, and while this may not apply in your case, note that the Camping and Caravanning Club now has a limit of 15kg for cylinders used at Club sites and events (more info. on their website).
