We've just bought a T25 camper van and want to fit a tv into it, something that the kids can watch while we're driving, even if its just DVD's, but on a decent sized screen (well 14-15"!) fitted to the roof behind the front seats. Ideally it needs to fold up into the roof above the seats so its not in the way, but also be removable perhaps leaving the bracket in place!
Its proving difficult to find something...any ideas anyone?
Also... if you have an inverter do you still need to buy a TV that runs off 12v or hook up if you're going to run it off the battery while you're moving?
We have a bongo. TV is strapped to drivers seat and is a tv/dvd. It is only 11" but I think you can get 12" ones as well. It really is ideal for us - but sorry don't know the make and it is in van at moment with hubby away in it.
We have a Avtex Portable Tv and its very good, being easy to tune and very lightweight. The first one we bought was a MobileTv brand, and it was a load of trouble and never gave a clear picture despite what ariel or area we tried it in, so we returned it to the dealer and found he had a stack of them awaiting return to the maunfacturer for various faults. You may need to retune your set though a few times during a long journey as you pass through differing transmission areas. Its also possible to get Tv via your laptop using mobile broadband either through one of the i-player type websites, or by buying a Tv card from your local PC shop and asking them to help to set it up. This also i believe does away with the need for any TV ariel.
Our Avtex also has a slot for DVDs and CDs to be played all contained within the main compact machine, you can also upload your holiday pics to view onscreen, but dont ask me how lol, im still a bit of a dinosaur and prefare to get mine printed off at the photo shop!

------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
If you have a tv such as the technika one above, will it run off the leisure battery while the camper is actually moving...ie so the kids can watch a dvd in the back?
It has an inverter fitted, does that mean you can just plug things in and use them even when driving?
I had a T4 Caravelle, with a 15" LCD TV mounted on a drop down bracket (for kitchen cabinets, just behind the front seats. It was run from the leisure battery via an inverter and had a PS2 wired in as well so that the kids could play games or run DVD's. As most of our holidays were long distance ones, it would be on for most of the journey. I chose a TV that had speakers on the side so that the depth of the TV did not interfere too much with rear vision.
