We often struggle to get a digital signal when away with the caravan with a mast aerial despite using a booster.  Anyone recommend an effective, cost effective and above all simple to use satellite system to buy?  Would prefer one I can mast mount on my A frame?

The likes of Aldi/Lidl often have some good buys on the mini sets. Also B&Q do them as well which might be worth checking as its 'sale time'. Whether one of these sets would suit you depends on where you camp. If you go to Europe or the the north of Scotland you will need a larger dish.

Now I know nothing about satellite tele'..so can I just as explain a few things please?

Firstly,what "kit" is required?

Do you need to be "subcribed" to a sat "provider"?

or are these portable dishes just another,way of picking up Freeview channels?

Also,if doing it "on the cheap",are they a pain to set up?(Aldi/fleaby etc)

We have had a suitcase Sat for about 3 years and have ony used it once or twice. I really can't be bothered with it. If I can't get digital or terrestrial signals then we don't bother and read a book.

I think they are a fiddle but others will disagree. If you can't miss the soaps then I suppose it is worth while.

You don't need to be a subscriber as you can use Freesat which we use at home and is at it states it is free. You do get a much better picture with a dish and you can also get HD.

If I can't get a signal within the first couple of minutes,everything gets put away and I just read the paper!(..usually with the radio tuned into a local station).

We're not great tele watchers at home,so we're not really all that bothered about watchin' the thing,having driven 2-3hrs!..
