Hi, can anyone out there recommend a good air bed to buy bought 1 double and 2 single camping gaz from Argos last year and 2 have got puncture's, can't understand why as we place the air beds on blankets for extra protection and we have only used them twice. NOT IMPRESSED!!
Prepared to pay a little bit more to get something of good quality.
There is a current topic on airbeds, that has been going a few days now. You may want to take a look - I think aerobeds and Coleman comforts have been popular so far. We have the maxi (bigger) version of the Coleman comfort airbed. They do maxi singles too...
Have a look at self inflating matresses, my backpacking one is still good as new after 5 years use, we have them for the family tent, but for that we use the larger versions, the only down side is that pack size is larger than for an airbed, but on the upside they seem to be almost 100% reliable, you can find them in Aldi and Decathlon at good prices, brands like Alpkit "Fat Aerics" and ThermaRest are well known with both campers and backpackers alike. hope that helps.
We've got an Aerobed Active and after a couple of seasons camping, as well as various nights over at friend's houses etc, I can honestly say we're delighted with it. It's super-comfortable compared to normal airbeds and extremely quick/easy to use. Not the cheapest, but surely one of the best.
A little tip for airbeds – I always place a large mat under the beds prior to placing them on the ground and I have seen some people place cardboard down first to stop or reduce the risk of punctures! Makes for a nice warm layer too when you want to get up and it's cold on the ground.
I can just put up with zips being opened and closed all night without the hassle of airbeds wheezing….

Aerobed explorer for me every single time. Love it and wouldn't be without it! They are expensive though, but worth every last penny! No I don't work for them!
I'll second that Bernie We've got a Royal rubberised airbed which we've been using regularly for over five years. It's still going strong, no punctures & we've never had to add any air to it even when we've camped for nine days. It's perfect
Just a note - we used ancient (20 years +) rubberised airbeds until recently and were going to just get replacements given some of the reviews about modern airbeds. We changed our minds, however, when we read about the reliability of the Coleman comfort airbeds and threads on the forum and comments elsewhere that the rubber used today is much thinner on the rubberised airbeds and that they are not so good or reliable as a result. As with other airbeds, there may be better ones - but none stood out! Went for the Coleman comfort instead and not regretted it!
