No, no and no. We're having to use the wife's Xsara at the moment, once my Mondeo is back on the road it won't really be a problem. It's a long enough journey with the two dogs in the car, adding roof boxes and trailers would just make it unbearable. We really like a pitch by the sea (one that allows dogs) and it is a good two hours as it is and one of the dogs gets car sick as soon as we pull out of the driveway. Next up on the list of wants is a folding table, we currently don't have a table at the moment, so anything will be an improvement. Unlike many, all 4 legs are adjustable for uneven ground. We upgraded to this one last year from a HiGear/Gelert version that wasn't adjustable as we got fed up with trying to level it.
We use a non-slip vinyl cover (lovely design of photographed fruit) to stop potential spills leaking through on to the carpet.
The extra cost is worth it.

Hi Poppy Dog
Does the bowl fold really flat? Also - do you know the dimensions of the 5ltr/10ltr versions? Currently use a tupperware container that carries stuff to the site, but it would be useful not to have to empty the contents everytime when using the small tent or sleeping onboard one of the vintage vehicles... !
Had been looking at other makes of collapsable bowls - but it's nice to find someone who has experience of one.

I've got a bigger car, it just won't be back on the road before our first camping trip this year, plus I like the idea of having the extra space anyway, as I'm sure we'll eventually find other things to take with us. We've come a fair way since our first camping trip in 2007 (didn't go camping in 2008) when we didn't have a pump for the airbeds, didn't take pillows and didn't have any chairs.

what is a good idea is those space save bags put all clothes in them quilts and what ever, use a hoover to suck all all the air out , and omg don;t they shrink they stack nicely as clothes does take up rather a lot of room same as coats etc. and as soon as you arrive on site open bags and all the cloths comes out back to normal.
If you have a electric or rechargable air pum , mine sucks air out they work well to do everything in reverse when you come home,
i found some bags in poundland they were ok, but i did buy the big space saver set on the internet at spacebags web page
