Yeah if you are worried about the dog use a crate or keep it out of the inner.
Our youngest camped from 6 months, and just slept on a self inflating mat, (or on the airbed next to mum mozlty as was still breast feeding). I never really though that getting something specifc for camping was either necessary or worth the money.
Grobag type baby sleeping bags are good -with little un in a fleecey babygro inside
