Hi All

We are trying to find a baby sleeping bag for 0-6 month is there such a thing?

alternativly what has anyone else used or found

Yes for that age get the usual baby sleeping bags that you can get in mothercare etc - if you want warmer vertbaudet do ones with fleece arems but it is easier just to put extra clothes on baby before putting them in bag. Also a good idea for them to wear a stretchy hat to keep head warm. baby will be fine in that.

Our three use vango nitestar convertables. They started using them at about 12 months and were fine. Good quality and realy warm. They still use them now because you can extend the length. I suspect the oldest has another couple of years of use.

We never bought baby sleeping bags because they don't last long enough to justify the cost. We just used to wrap them up in a moses basket when they were realy little.

As for beds we completely cover the bedroom in foam mats and picnic bankets which means they have plenty of room and usualy end up in a corner all snuggled up.

We have camped quite a bit with our baby (now toddler) & have tried all sorts! We do have a vango nitestar baby sleeping bag and it is super cosy & warm but my daughter wriggled straight out of it. I still take it and sometimes throw it over her in the night (open) when she is fast asleep for extra warmth but I found a fleece sleepsuit & gro bag the best, only if it is very cold- it is a real balance making sure they dont overheat. I tend to put her to bed in fleece sleepsuit with cotton sleepsuit & vest underneath then if it got cold later (in early spring & autumn) I added a grobag too. People on here laughed at me as many litle ones sleep in less than this but both me & my daughter get really cold (though when she was young I checked her all the time to make sure she wasnt hot). I would also recommend Purflo grobags http://www.purflo.com/acatalog/PurFlo_SleepSac.html as they have arms, but in the summer you may not need a fleece suit underneath. We use our purflo bag at home too in the winter as we have a chilly child. I think I would go for grobag &/or fleece suits rather than the nitestar unless you have a baby who is very still at night! The nice thing about fleece sleepsuits is they can stay in them in the morning until they get dressed and stay warm, and eventually can crawl & walk in them

Would also recommend phil n teds travel cot if you are short of packing space as it last a lot longer than tent style small to pack travel cots as they can stand up in them. Old fasioned travel cots are better for being off the ground (& handy playpen when putting the tent up!) but we ran out of space in the car as we bought more kit!
