I have a convection oven which is EXACTLY the same as a halogen but instead of a light for heat I have an element, and the wattage for mine is 1300w. I would say that is ok to run on a campsite

There are mixed views on these.
I have one and thought it would be good for camping, however, my first attempt at cooking with it was a disaster and the chicken ran red not clear!
I haven't given up on it and I think there are actually some cook books out now which, 2 years ago, there wasn't anything and much of the cooking in these halogen ovens was guesswork.
I'll give mine another go but safe to say, I prefer the slow cooker for camping, especialy when it's colder. It's safer and more practicable.
Ours went on the transfer list at the end of last year as we just could'nt get on with it at all.Everything was either napalmed or as mantrachants chicken was. There was no inbetween with it.

Very excited at the thought of using a slow cooker when camping
Can you really use a slow cooker when camping...we have one at home and love it... does it not drain the electrics??
Does this mean that you could put on the slow cooker go out and leave it and then come back for the meal???
If so I think i will buy a smaller version of ours to go on our next camping trip!!!!
Also on the Halogen cooker front my parents got one for christmas and love it and have cooked all sorts of things on it really easily so they said!!! I do not know if they will take it caravanning but will ask!
