Hi, I was just wondering if anyone used a weber q120 BBQ for camping?
I was looking at buying one of these but wondering how big and heavy / small and light they actually are in the flesh.
I need to buy online so I can't see it for real until it's delivered so just needed any advice.
Get a Weber Go Anywhere BBQ - It's really good and plenty big enough if you're cooking for 4. Takes one 1kg bag of easy lighting charcoal too - no faffing trying to light it!!!
I have a Webber Q100 (which is basically the 120 without the two fold out side tables). Perfect for camping. In terms of handling, obviously you will know the dimensions but I would liken it to carrying something a bit bigger (but not a great deal) than a 24 pack of beer but with handles. I also have its bigger brother (Q200) for home use and the two share same the rolling cart which is well worth going for as an extra if your budget allows (I would say in preference to the folding tables). Needless to say, ditch the disposable gas cylinder hose it comes with and get the hose for refillable cylinders.
I won't go into a sales pitch other than to say that everything you read about the quality of these things is true. And follow the instructions to the letter, particularly about not cleaning the grill plate between uses - the old grease protects the cast iron from rusting and is burned off when you warm it up for the next bbq.
If you do need to see one in the flesh many garden centres seem to sell them.

+1. And you can chuck on a firelog after too. As it's raised on folding legs it's off the grass.
We've got the Go Anywhere and the Q120. The Q120 does take up space but we put it on the roof when we're travelling. It's not too heavy to lift. It's a brilliant BBQ and hubby wouldn't go camping without - we use the optional trolley to bring it up to a useful height. If you go abroad it's an absolute must as many campsites don't allow the charcoal BBQs.
The Go Anywhere is also great as a small BBQ - we tend to use it for the beach at home.
Wow thanks everyone!
We were looking at the go everywhere one but as midge says you can't use charcoal BBQ's in France and that's where we are heading this year so the q120 seemed ideal. I wanted something that could be used alone side of our Cobb, so we can still have "real" BBQ'd food aswell.
I was just worried about the size for camping ......cdb, is the q100 the sane size then just without the fold out bits?
I've seen reviews for weber and haven't read a bad one yet so I think you've l made my mind up then.
Yes, the 100 is the 120 without the side tables, I think it was quite a bit cheaper when we bought ours. Our 200 has the side tables so I have one with and one without - to be honest I dont miss them, when camping we have a table next to the BBQ so use that.
we use the 120 brilliant easy to transport you can buy a proper webber trolly bag that the whole bbq goes in its about £20 you can get the webber table it slots onto but we just use a cheap foldable one you can see them at garden centres. recomend the proper webber bbq tools they slot under the two fold out tables thats handy for transporting and keeping everthing together.
Thanks everyone, i called into our local garden centre and they were just unpacking them! I looked at the 120 & 200(or 220?) and the Q120 looks just what we're looking for. Now, my dilema is do i pay £20 more for the new black line??? I know it'll be exactly the same its just its all black.
The blacklines have a slightly different ignition switch - instead of a clicky one, its more electronic and feels nicer. plus i prefer the all over black, makes it look mean!

Thanks weberlover (nice name!) think I'm going to have the black one.
welcome to the forum, I hope you find lots of info out. It's quite addictive being on here.
