We camp throughout the winter in Scotland.

This year OM bought the Coleman Hampton Double sleeping bag. The info says it is good down to minus11 degrees.. so in his wisdom he thought that would be great for me as I am the one who goes to bed dressed like an onion because I am always cold despite the fact that our old sleeping bags feel like they are 75Tog they are so heavy and yet I was still cold.

So there we go camping in the Highlands again in the snow and the frost and I felt the weight of this new sleeping bag and thought it felt so lightweight I had my big fleecy blanket beside me as I was not convinced the new bag would do the trick.

What an amazing surprise... I was the one who was unzipping part way through the night. This is the warmest cosiest yet lightweight sleeping bag we have used.. It definitelt does the job and at minus11 too.

It has a zip flap that stops through drafts, and the zipper undoes from the bottom too so if your tootsies get too hot you can stick them out, It has a drawstring top so you can strangle your partner whilst they sleep - errr no it its so you can tuck it up round your neck and shoulders - Bag is long enough for people 6 foot tall and possibly more. Folding three time long ways then again makes it a size that you can stick it back into its own storage bag.

Well Impressed with this

We've got this too Im always telling people how brilliant it is, I've had sleeping bags all my life being a canal boater since a kid and this is way the best sleeping bag I've had.  I've made a fleecy liner to go inside it but we have only used that once so far when we camped at Easter last year. Amazon have them on offer regularly at around £40ish and Im sure I saw a single version there too a month or two ago.

If Im not mistaken the Hampton is the envelope double and the Hudson is the Mummy style version of same bag (im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong) - its just down to what you prefer!

We have the Hudson double (examples of both here Hampton, Hudson) and I am very pleased with it; but a tad frustrating trying to get it back in its carry bag.

I must be noted though that these bags are best described as “single season” and, whilst fine for everyday average camping in the UK, they are not bags for extreme temperatures. I don’t think I’d personally like to test one at -11 degrees

We have both the Hampton double and single - they are excellent sleeping bags. Tbh I could never get comfy in a single until I tried this one. It is roomy yet nice and toasty. Used last spring and autumn and was fine - some might want another layer though.

Another bigging it up here too for the Hampton Double. The best camping purchase I have made to date. I too will also be on the look out for a single version of the Hampton double.
