Hi, got almost all the kit I think we will need for our first camping trip, but as it is in april, think we may need a little heat in the evenings Will probably end up getting a blue or black cat, but as a budget option to try out wondered about these stove top heater adaptors. Anyone got one or used one? Thanks in advance for your advice and shared knowledge

I was looking at tents on the Wynnster site last night, and kept seeing a little side panel advert for a stove heater, but I paid it no attention.

Can’t find it now, do you have a link?

Anyway, I don’t like the sound of anything you put on a stove to produce heat. You should not really be using the stove inside the tent, and if you do only for short bursts like boiling a kettle. I would be worried about the carbon monoxide these things give off.

If you have EHU then the obvious thing is a small fan heater. If you go for a Black or Blue cat then don’t expect too much from one. We have a BlackCat, and whilst it is ok, and nice and safe, it doesn’t kick out mega heat – just takes the chill out of the air (there are many posts on here about them, just try a search).

I’m hope others will agree: be very wary of any “adapter” that turns a stove into a heater- sounds a real bodge to me.

I saw one at my local caravan shop. Safe enough except for possible fumes. They work a bit like the old paraffin room heaters, except instead of the heating flame being a burning paraffin wick, it's a ring of gas flames.

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

I thought these sounded like a good idea too. Bought one and hated it in use. It didn't give off much heat but got dangerously, imo, hot to touch. Wouldn't recommend at all.
