We're camping at Easter and feel that mats under our air beds will help stop the heat being drawn away from us. I did read in the camping mag this month that mats will help.

We've only used our airbeds and relevent sleeping bags (we've winter ones and summer ones) I do still get quite cool even in the layers, socks, hat and gloves, I know I'm nesh!

Now to my question which mats would you recomend?

Insulation on top of the airbed is more important than under it. Just a couple of foam camping mats would be fine with a fitted matress cover or just a fitted sheet to hold them in place.

We use a fleece blanket, a fleece matress cover & a fitted sheet on ours. We cover the bedroom floor with a couple of picnic rugs, so the airbed sits on these, but I must admit that I really use the rugs more for a soft, warm carpet to step out onto rather than for insulation under the airbed.

I was going to put the mat under the airbed, good to hear on here I was about to do it wrong before I go camping and wonder why it's not worked with mats.

Bought  some cheap mats and will take fitted sheets to go over them on the airbeds.

This is almost exactly what I use.  I don't bother with the mats but do use the foi-backed rugs from ALDI under the airbeds, the fleece fitted sheets and on top of those a flannelette fitted sheet.  Very snug.

I bought some quilted mattress covers last year for our airbeds as I found them a bit chilly in cold weather. They have been great and the beds feel much warmer and a bit more comfy too. I have even dyed them green to match the tent - sad I know!

We also have hot water bottles for extra warmth - usually also needed in Summer...

Just bought single and double fleecy fitted mattress covers from Wilkos for £6-£8 each to go on top of our airbeds. Look nice and warm. Remember them on our beds at home during the winter as kids...

hi we use foam or tin foiled backed picknic rugs under our air beds and fleece fitted matress protectors on to of air bed  then a quilt sheet and another quilt on top same with 2 young daughters , always nice and warm ,if you go to B&M the  double fleece matress topers are £5.99 and foam backed  picknic rugs are £3.99
