the best stuff we've had is Isabella Bolon (closeweave breathable groundsheet) not cheap but cleans up a treat, comfy underfoot and folds down to a compact size.

I looked at some of that today, like you say not cheap, but I'm wondering if a chair leg would go through it as its quite thin?

Hi,
we use a breathable groundsheet, with 2 cheap shower curtains on top (waterproof), then an old blanket or a double sided picnic blanket and then the lite weave awning carpet. We have two awnings a tech lite 1 and a porchlite xl we use. Sounds over the top but it adds a little warmth, and in summer you can use the cheap beech matt rolls from the £ shop. I came from a tent as a child and we had carpeting in out large frame tent, so got used to some comforts.
hope you find something.

Ah right I thought it was a different carpet to the tent ones, does your carpet never get wet being in the awning?

we were in the Dordogne a few years ago and had really heavy rain one afternoon. We came back to the tent after being out for the day to find water had come up through the Isabella and we were paddling in it up to our ankles wherever we walked. Looking back it was hilarious, we had to take eveything out (tables, larders, chairs etc etc whilst it was still peeing down, lift the sodden Isabella gs and replace it with a tarp. At the time I could have cried (well I did tbh).
This was torrential rain though for 12 hrs solid. The gs dried quickly when the rain eventually stopped. We sold it with the frame tent.
We used it several times though and never had a problem with a chair causing a hole. Its very hardwearing.

hi bit confused you seem to be using a breathable ground sheet then covering it with non breathable stuff does that not defeat the object of a breathable ground sheet and kill the grass anyway?

How about foam awning tiles, like big jigsaw pieces, completely waterproof, lovely and soft on your feet as well as insulating? Wouldnt be without mine.

Sorry late in reply having Pc trouble. We don,t much pitch on grass and then if we do its only for a short period (weekend). We are normally on Hard Standing. Our flooring issues do seem a little overkill, but its what we do and we like it. The Breathable goundsheet is the type with sort of 2mm holes that comes on a big roll. 1x blanket double sided (picnic type) 2 cheap shower curtains, and then the Lite weave carpet from outdoor revolution. The blanket is only used in Winter. Its more to lose the hardness of the stones under foot and a bit of comfort. Also always take shoes off at entrace to keep mess to a minimum.
