Got a flyer (well, more a catalogue) from Go Outdoors today for their “Easter Extravaganza”.
Like most of their “specials” it’s not so, erm, special in that I can’t see anything that has been reduced in price
However, I notice on the back some “vouchers” that look fairly generous:
Wed 21st April a bike for £99 Thur 22nd April 15% off everything. Sat 24th April 20% off tents (not including canopies, carpets etc) Sun 25th April 15% off chairs, tables, sleeping bags and air beds when you buy a tent.
Now 20% is not to be sniffed at, and I for one would be saving £48 on the Nevada M I’m thinking of buying.
So how will the wangle their way out of this? Limited stock of the good sellers they know people will want?
With Go Outdoors, you either love 'em, or hate 'em, as far as I can see from the numerous threads here. Personally, I'm in the love 'em camp. We got our 2009 Orchy last year for £160. That alone paid for the card many times over. You have to play them at their own game. Watch for the specials, be in the queue early, use the Price Match, etc etc.
And at the end of the day, don't like 'em ? Go Elsewhere
I'm actually in the "love 'em camp". Bought most of our kit from them, and of course we got an excellent deal with them on our Weathermaster tent. And we will probably buy the Nevada off them if it turns out to be the one we choose as our "downsize" tent.
I find them very convenient (only 3 miles away), good choice and competitive when it comes to price.
But you are correct regards the cynic in me when it comes to "specails" and such like
Hi, I'm new here (hello all) I was in their store at the weekend and thought it was interesting that all their products bar codes and names were slightly different so price comparisons were hard.
However, saying that I got them to price match on an Outwell 6 and ended up getting it for £330(ish) down from £420 so very happy with that.
They have some camper lux sleeping bags in there too and with the 15% it would take them down to around the lowest I can find them on the web.
So I like them because of the tent and this 15% but if I was going somewhere of choice I'd probably still go to allweathers as they pretty much beat every price I could find just naturally on the shelves.
Great site btw its really got me interested in camping.
Cheers
Dave

I've gone on about this before, but it will be interesting to make a note of their price fluctuations between now and the end of April. I would imagine that most prices will be at the upper stage of the fluctuation come 15%/20% "discount" time.
Marketing/pricing shenanigins aside, we've had our money's worth from them. Locally we've only got a small Yeomans, and an independent stocked with dusty old stuff, so we'll continue to visit them, keeping our wits about us.
Yep Monty 6, just waiting for a dry day to try out putting it up, can't wait
I hadn't thought about the prices going up just before the discounts. I really want a leatherman squirt and a couple of sleeping bags and figured I'd get them then.
However, just looked for my vouchers and realsied I've thrown the flyer away doh . Guess its back to google shopping !

Just nipped in to brag about my bargain buy from Go Outdoors.
Went in a couple of weekends ago for a nosey and to kick-start the 'camping area' of my brain.
Poking around in all the furthest corners of the place (as you do) I came across a front extension for my Idaho for a measly 50 quid!!!!! If there were more I'd have bought them all......... (and paid for this years holiday with the profits!)
BTW, I didn't buy anything else - I use it to get a feel of stuff I'm thinking of buying elsewhere.
