We went through a huge amount of grief when we had to place the bulb in our Tauri, On removing the bulb the printed info on it was very faded. I couldn't really read it but convinced myself it said 20w. I then set off on a fruitless search for 20w halogen bulbs of that wattage and fitting - as you say, as best as I can tell no such things exist. Had to replace it with a 25w bulb.
Since then, whenever we use it I wait for it to burst into flames or some other bad dream from my nightmares! :-)
When you removed you spent original bulb did you happen to note if it was a 25w or did you have the same problem and go through a mad Google session trying to fin a bulb of the wattage printed on the box?
