Hi All,

Decided this year to buy a 3 way fridge so we could at least have a working fridge even if we don't have a EHU. Having bought a Quest 45L unit (looks identical to a Waeco so think it's rebadged), I read in the instruction leaflet that you're not meant to run it inside a tent, but rather under a canopy. I'm assuming that this is for safety i.e. carbon monoxide, but I must admit running it in the tent was the main aim, and I'm not keen on leaving it out on display. Does anyone else use a fridge on gas inside the tent, and are the manufacturers just being a bit over cautious?

We run ours inside our tent with no problems. But not inside the sleeping compartments obviously.

To be honest I'd be surprised if it was a problem, particularly as ours is a large tunnel tent, and as you say it would be run in the main area rather than the bedrooms.

Provided you have ventilation inside the the fly sheet you will be ok. Its only a tiny flame, not like a gas ring.

I never keep mine inside my SIG living area tent.  The flame may be small but I just don't want to take a risk.  I have it either in the kitchen tent or, if I don't take the kitchen tent, under the extension of my Minnesota.  Either way there are lots of things around it so it's not on blatant display and I've never had a problem.

I am not sure I would run a gas fridge in an enclosed environment where people are sleeping nearby, after all carbon monoxide is not known as the silent killer for nothing!  The instructions are pretty clear on the subject.

I wouldn't run a fridge inside a tent either for the price of a utility tent it is not worth the risk.

I'm considering this fridge but worried about the noise versus a similiar Dometic (abet £200 more expensive!).  Have you had a chance to use it yet, I know they market it as being virtually noiseless?

All 3-way fridges are silent as there is no motor mechanism involved.
