It seems as I haven't done my research very well. I have just purchased a cheap 'weekend' tent (Vango Alpha 200) to use when me & the wife climb Snowdon in a few weeks time. I've only just realised that our double airbed will not fit in
The internal dimensions of the tent are 205cm x 120 cm. The dimensions of the airbed are 190cm x 137cm. I don't really want to resort to foam camping mats so what are my options?
Seeing as you don't want to go the foam mattress route, if you bought the tent new, could you not return it and go for the Alpha 300? The inside dimensions of that is 210x180, and the price difference is going to be cheaper than forking out for a couple of decent self inflating mats.
------------- Tents : Outwell Nevada M, Outbound Oberon 3, Outbound Sierra 1, Pro Action Hike Lite 1.
The tent has arrived this morning and they have sent the Alpha 250 instead of the 200. Not sure if is a mistake or if they sent it due to being out of stock with the 200. Either way, the airbed will now fit As we will have the car, there are no real worries about having any spare room in the tent.
I found that having an airbed in a 'short' tent made me feel a bit claustrophobic inside but as you've not got the 250 alpha you've also gained an extra 20cm headroom! Happy days!
