I'm close to buying a Cadac as everyone else seems to have them, from what I see though most people use it as a hotplate which puts me off. The food sits in its own fat, not sure if you get the bbq taste.

Re cadac - If you use the bbq bit (not the flat plate) you certainly do get the bbq tase - it is the grease which causes the smoke that gives the taste.  The grease falls into the lower part.  The flat plate would be used in the way you would use any frying pan, the other side of it is a griddle.  In addition, if you buy the one with the lid you can then use the cadac as an oven - I bought lid and roasting pan a couple of weeks ago and have roasted chickens a couple of time.  Last weekend used it for part-baked croissants.  Can also be used to heat pies/pizzas.  And just for the fun of it I used the pot stand only to boil a kettle just to see if it would - and it did in the same time as our portable gas cooker.  I have used my cadac consistently since I bought it last year for everything and am glad I decided on the cadac (had seriously thought of the cobb) as it is so flexible.  One note, they can be a bit bulky but no concern unless you are seriously strapped for space in car/avan.

Check out The Cobb!    You can BBQ, griddle (the fat runs away, but is saved in a moat around the edges and so does not make the coals smoke). When you put on the lid, you can use it as an oven, and bake pizza, roast a chicken, chuck together a stew, etc. etc. This is a pricy piece of kit, but worth every single penny in my mind. (We just use our friends - lol).

We bought the cadac last year and love it!

Kids love pancakes for breakfast and its been used for BBQ, cooked breakfast, fajitas, stifrys and countless other things. Last weekend we bought the paella pan to go with it and OH cooked a fantastic seafood paella that went down a treat at our spanish themed party. This was done at home but cant wait to try it out while camping xx

Webber Q100/120 cooked a 6lb rib of beef last weekend no complaints from those that ate it.  If cooking sauages or burgers then any mentioned above.

We have a CADAC and I don't really think of it as a BBQ, we use the paella pan and the skottle on ours but I think it would need vast amounts of cleaning if used as a BBQ and that doesn't appeal to me.

Personally though, it's not a BBQ unless it's charcoal so a gas BBQ is already a compromise so we tend to use cook meat on the skottle of the CADAC if we can't be bothered to fire up the charcoal webber.

The gas webber is probably a good recommendation, their products are usually second to none.   We did buy my Dad an Argos Gas BBQ when they were on special last year and it does the job pretty well if you like that kind of thing...

The Webber Q100/120 is very similar to the Coleman Roadtrip but is available in many outlets unlike the Coleman.

1 problem the Coleman used to have is the handles melted if cooking with the hood down. I'd choose Webber over the Coleman if I were you. Great little gas BBQ.

The cadac is great to cook on but I never used to like all the cleaning that it needed so sold ours on, now we just use a stove/grill inside the tent and outside use a small portable bbq with a ready to use coal bag. We have also been known to use our bbq as a fire pit to sit around on cold nights.

We use our cadac for everything it is intended for - bbq, roasting meat/chickens etc, frying breakfasts, griddling steak, heating up pizzas, part baked croissants and much more.  We clean everything the way we would at home including the barbeque - brush off the debris with a wired brush and clean as normal. I'm not bothered about eveything being spotlessly clean as we want to get our money's worth and use it to it's full capacity- when would you normally clean a bbq or roasting pan till spotless?  (maybe I'm just lazy LOL)!. Perhaps different if the intention is to sell on at a later date, which we dont.
