Can anyone give us some help, we are looking to start going on rallys more often, we noticed on the last one loads of people were using tv's, some had generators and some had solar panels. What is the best to buy to run twin axel jubilee equerry.

depends on your wallet and if you want piece and quiet, or a hum from a genny, i would go for the genny as you can always use it to power things and not just top up the 12v system.
I have rallied for a few years and have tried all different methods. I now just leave briefcase type solar panel plugged in and use telly as and when we want, dont cut back on using anything.
I have a 1000w inverter connected to my car or a spare battery in the back of my car. Plug a hook up lead into the inverter and we can use 240v for hairdryer and straighteners, etc, plus it charges the battery. I rushed out and bought a generator when I first started cos the missus wanted hairdryer, etc but the inverter is great and not so anti-social.
If it is only the 12v battery running out you are worried about then the cheapest and cleanest option has to be buying a second battery and maybe split relay charger in boot of car, all for sub £100.
i'd take the generator just incase you get no sun. With a generator start it up for a couple of hours in the afternoon to top off the battery or at night to watch t.v and light the van.
mikyallsorts has got it in one.His set up is the way to go.I went the same way a couple of years ago and have never had any problems or any more costs, even on a 2 week holiday with very little sun for the solar panel,I just swapped the batteries around with the 2nd battery with the a relay system in the car, an inverter for your 240v output.if need be,but very little used since I bought a 12 v freeview tele, and as micky says not so anti social as a genny. I came home last year after 2 weeks away and when i checked, both my batteries were still fully charged. When you take the cost of a good quality quite generator, at around £600,I think it is a bit cheaper system.

I have a 12v freeview TV which seems to be good on the battery, I only need the 240v because of my OH and kids want hairdryers and straighteners, its a pain!
I have a Clarke suitcase generator for sale as I don't use it, if anyone wants in the Essex area.
When we had our tow bar fitted we had a charging point put in the boot. A second battery weighs less and takes up less space than the generator. For a weekend one battery suffices and if we go for a week we always go out somewhere. We have a briefcase solar panel as well but lately we have been a bit short on sun !

I generally go to rallies mostly & always use a 50 watt solar panel. Never had the battery go flat as yet even when we were away for a fortnight. Just used the 12v tv now & again & ran the lights fine. All depends on what you're going to use at the end of the day.
