Hi, my friend has sleep apnoea and has to sleep with an oxygen machine thingy which is electric. Fine if they go to a EHU site (I think - they have only just got into camping and haven't tried it yet), but on a non-EHU site (or if EHU idea fails) would they be able to run it from a leisure battery or something? We've no idea about these things, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The pen is mightier than the sword - but only if the sword is very small and the pen is very sharp...
Id say ask the Dr/ Manufacturer what amp-age they need. Site Electrics are not always reliable as many are at the end of an electricity supply line, and with other campers blowing the ampage.

You can get a 12v lead for some models of machine, otherwise consider buying an inverter, although if the breathing probelm is severe, then personally i wouldnt risk using a supply that is likely to fail whilst he may be sleeping, its just not worth the risk to his health.

Hi Pally, I don't think they draw much current especially the new slow start ones that ramp up. Have a word with the technician who services it at your local Department of Respiritory Medcine. You also need to know the polarity of the 12volt connector plug (whether the inside is + and the outer is - , or vice versa)
It can run off 12v but you need to ask for the adapter.
Running on 12v it uses 2.5A ( but the manual shows typical usage = 34VA or 20W).
I am new to caravaning and would only use mine where no mains hook up is available so would be interested to know if I could use this for 2 nights (7 hours kip) and also the water pump and lights on a 110Ah battery.
