Hi the Dometic RC1700 Combicool is the replacement model for the Waeco CAB 40 which we have. Its a brilliant fridge and works very efficiently - I think you have the advantage of its temperature going a couple of degrees cooler than ambient with this newer model (I think they are quoting 32degs now?). We love ours and use it for parties and camping & when we switch to a caravan we'll still have a use for it in the awning. A big plus for tent camping is that its completely silent so much so I have to put my hand over the vent to feel for the warm air to check its running ok in the car. We use ours on ehu if you are to use it on gas it does mention in the instructions that it should be placed in a well ventilated position, inside a sig tent may not be suitable.
It is enormous externally which did surprise us on delivery even though we checked all dimensions but its a good squarish shape for packing the car as long as you leave the vents free of luggage.
We got ours mail order from SOCAL and it was very well packed & delivered promptly.
