Hi Karen,

We recently had a powertouch unit fitted to our swift conqueror 540.  Its not the biggest van but too heavy for us to push and move about easily.  It was a big investment so we thought long and hard, but I cant believe the difference it has made in just a few trips out.  We can put our van into its storage space without fear of crashing into the vans on each side now.  We went to a site and wanted to face the afternoon sun, but that meant the van doing a 180, no problem and we had all the sun we could handle.  Like you, our clutch used to burn for fun moving the van in reverse, no more and its a godsend not to have to smell burnt clutch anymore.  Basically I cant imagine how we managed before we got it.

I cant recommend powrwheel enough. They were helpful, friendly and all our questions were answered with patience.  Buying the unit and getting it fitted on a day and place we wanted was easy too.  They have a UK network of engineers so you can have it fitted at home so dont lose the use of your van whilst it sits in a dealers all week!  It was about £40 extra to have it fitted, but means the guarantee goes from 5 years parts, to 5 years parts and labour - well worth it.

We have the Truma one fitted to ours and can't reccommend it enough.  We pulled up at a site the other weekend and i preferred the look of another pitch so just motor moved it over to the other pitch.  Putting it into it's storage space is soo easy now.  Whatever one you go for you won't regret it

Thanks guys. Did you buy locally or through the supplier direct i.e. Truma or powrtouch or their nationwide dealers and did you buy the fully automated one or the one you have to manually engage or does it not make much difference ( except in the price !)?. I have receievd lot's of prices varying from £900 to £1900 and wonder if the manuallly engaging thing is fine given the difference in price  or is it money well spent to go automatic ( although anything rather than lug the van I suppose has to be value!!

Hi Karen,

We went direct to the manufacturer after getting a deal at a show.I cant say manual engaement is hard as its just pulling a wrench from back to front or vice versa, im only small and not that strong and I manage no problem. Do get the cross bar so both wheels are engaged at the same time - it helps if you are snug to something on one side.  I cant see why you would want to pay all the extra for automatic engagement unless you had  a really bad back or something.
