We have an igloo maxcold. It is great it really does keep ice for 5 days. We put 2, 2 litre bottles of frozen water in it and freeze stuff we dont need straight away. We also have 2 kids that are in and out of it! but still found it lasted very well. When the water is melted you also have very cold water to drink on a hot sunny day!!! If we ever get any of those in the summer lol.
We did buy a cigarette light on before the igloo. It didnt hold as much and you really need a car that the cigarette socket works without the ignition otherwise you need to leave the ignition on with the keys in the car. Also I was worried about the battery going flat.

The 3 way fridge is the most versatile, and unsurprisingly also the most expensive. Works on mains, gas or as a back up on 12v. I have a dometic chest style 3 way fridge which we use alot on electric, occasionally on gas (seems to get colder quicker on gas), and in the car travelling on 12v. Many campers use a 12v 'cooler' type fridge. They only work on 12v and can be quite noisey in use (fans buzzing away constantly), but they are alot cheaper to buy. For me food safety is more important than cost so i bought the 3 way fridge. If you want to save a decent amount of cash and do not mind the noise a 12v cooler type fridge is a good option. Some campers use a cold box and ice blocks - r think this is a bit 'old fashioned' as most people camp with either 12v, mains or use a car to travel so a 12v cooler with battery monitor is a better bet. But some peeps like the traditional type camping and some like the 'bells and whistles' way - in the end its your choice so choose which you will enjoy most!
------------- Why am i doing this instead of camping??!!
I have a three way fridge and also a modern high quality (= not cheap!) 'five day' coolbox. I like them both. The 3 way is much bigger and heavier to transport and carry about, but when you get there its just plug and play. The coolbox is neater and lighter but you do have to add a bag of supermarket ice every five days to keep it icey cold inside.
