When I fit my towing mirrors, I have a wee problem. On gusty days if a truck passes me my offside mirror pops inwards. Very annnoying! I once saw a car with towing mirrors equipped with a strop and suction cup led forward to presumably prevent this happening.

Anyone know where I can get these from?

Jim.

What mirrors do you have, they sound like they are faulty.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't very clear! My car mirror pops in. Not the towing mirror. I've got those adjustable "Rock Steady" jobs. Must be a rubbish spring or something. It is a Citroen after all..........

From what you say, I don't think whichever mirrors you fit to your existing will improve the matter because It's clearly the car mirror itself that has the problem causing this.

Coincidentally, I saw a C5 yesterday with the type of mirror that sits on the door itself, hooked into the window edge and strapped to the bottom of the door. I thought it was an 'over-kill', but perhaps they had the same problem, hence their choice.

Post edited to include link to the type of mirror I refer to - see here. They are Smat Weekend Mirrors (yes, Smat not smart, Swedish things)

I have a C5 and have exactly the same problem. I have bought a peugeot 407 with motorised folding mirrors. Haven't had chance to tow with it yet my next planned trip is the lake district at the end of May. I'll let you know how I get on.

I also had a pair of the Smat "strap on" towing mirrors in the past and they were excellent.

Thanks! I'll have a look at the Smat jobs.

Hi Jim, it sounds like the internal spring that holds the adjustable bit in mesh is a bit weak. If it is similar on the range and most C5s have a problem them an an alternative fixing method is req'd.

The Millenco Aero range fasten onto the edge of the mirror binacle instead of the mirror glass, they are not cheap but they are good.

Dave.
