Probably a silly question but how do folks go about disposing of the gas canisters from those picnic stoves, the aerosol variety.
Surely can't go into recycling but are they not too dangerous to put in the general rubbish that will be crushed on collection.
Just read on the side of one that it should be punctured when empty, suppose then its just like a tin can. We do use them till the pressure has gone where as an aerosol tin tends to run out of product but is still pressurised by the propellant in a lot of cases this is butane (without the smelly stuff) now as CFC are banned

Our local recycling centre has a separate cage for gas cylinders, but they tend to be for the refillable types... and for a fiver you can easily get an empty Calor or CampingGaz cylinder to exchange for a full one... bargain!
