Hello,

Yes we have one and had now for 3 years! very good indeed.
When on high it heats the tent so much you need to turn it off!

No problems with any hazards either. Got 4 children and no issues.

People say you have to travel to see the world. Sometimes I think that if you just stay in one place and keep your eyes open, you're going to see just about all that you can handle.

We've got one & find it okay. It doesn't throw out as much heat as our Parabolic heater, but it is probably safer if you have children or dogs as it burns flameless.

We use one.  We find that it feels warmer when you place one on a small folding aluminium picnic table.  By raising the heater off the ground the heat seems to fill the tent space a lot more affectively.

Many thanks for your help.
Just ordered one for £24.29 from Amazon which looks like a good deal.
Looking forward to using it

Sorry to mention this and apologies in advance if your tent doesn't have one but I don;t think you can use them with sewn in groundsheets due to carbon monoxide build up.

Don't mean to be a scaremonger but I have read some really scary tales of near misses.

Mmm...now im confused!
I've checked this out on wika and found a US safety body that states...

"Never use portable fuel-burning camping equipment inside a home, garage, vehicle or tent unless it is specifically designed for use in an enclosed space and provides instructions for safe use in an enclosed area"

The manufacturers description of the product does say however....

"An indoor heater using infrared technology which allows silent and clean combustion."

Can anyone shed any further light on this one?

I believe one can use a heater indoors providing the room is well ventilated.

As already mentioned before, there is a danger of carbon monoxide built up for totally enclosed spaces without ventilation.

I remember buying the Bluecat thinking I can use it inside a tent. However, once I got it home, somewhere in the instruction booklet states something in the line only to be used indoors providing it is well ventilated etc... Hence I got put off using it and it sits unloved in the garage.

However, I have since successfully used another gas heater inside the tent when I went camping with the South West group over the New Year weekend a few months back. And I am glad I did, as one 2k fan heater was not enough to keep me and the dog warm in the cold frosty nights when the outside temperature dropped to about - 5 deg C!

The tent was a Khyam Excelsior XL with 2.1m high living area and full standing height bedroom section, and was very well ventilated.

The heater I used was: http://www.socal.co.uk/Camping_Heaters/Bright_Spark/Bright_Spark_Portable_Gas_Heater/324/17214

After that trip, I am more confident about using my Bluecat inside the tent. However, the downside of the Bluecat for me is that I would need to buy and carry yet another type of gas cartridge to run it, whereas the Bright Spark one can use the same gas cartridge that goes with the suitcase stoves that I always carry with me.

Provided your tent has good ventilation there will be no problem using the heater inside it.

I have the Coleman BlackCat (Similar catalytic burn device - Coleman and GampinGaz are the same company so the devices are very similar). The instructions clearly state that it is for "outdoor use only", but this is just the manufacturer covering their behinds.

Provided you are sensible and have good ventilation and do not leave the device running unattended then you will be fine. For peace of mind you can buy carbon monoxide detectors, but this is overkill in my opinion.

Being sensible includes not putting the heater near fabric or in the middle of heavy traffic, or on something that can be tripped over easily.

Beware of children and pets that could knock it over, and never leave it turned on unattended.

Remember also that the grill will remain hot for a short while after the flame has been turned off!

All common sense really.
