Unfortunately a slow cooker cannot be used for a one-pot meal as you need to bring the ingredients to the boil first on a hob then transfer the mix to the slo-cooker to finish cooking slowly, whilst you are out etc.
I just use the skottle or paella pan on the Cadac & serve from there.
I chuck everything into my slow cooker raw and it cooks fine. Occcasionally I brown the meat first, but it's not really essential. I have thought about taking my slow cooker on a camp.
We took our slow cooker away on all our trips last year, it worked really well, but I could maybe do with getting a slightly smaller one, as ended up doing too much evrytime! ( which is ok at home when you can freeze it!)
Most things I just bung in from raw, just really mince dishes that i would fry off a bit first to get rid of excess fat.
I followed the above link & then bookmarked the Sites URL to my Mobile Phone's Web Browser.
Provided I can get a signal - we now have access to a great selection of One-Pot Menu ideas whilst on Site; & that will then allow us to work with the ingredients available at the local shops, to come up quickly with alternative menus on the fly if need be !
I never brown anything before i cook in the slow cooker i just bung it all in the pot first thing in the morning and by tea time its all ready and yummy!! I do chilli, bolognese, a full chicken, pork chops, rice pudding and porridge done over night ready for morning is so nice in the slow cooker( made me hungry now!!)
Yup agree with others for good old irish stew you don't need to brown anything you can just chuck the lot in and although it will take slightly longer will cook nevertheless in around 5-6hrs on medium. You can make great soups in them too

Only need to boil dried beans, peas & pulses before slow cooking. Just use tins! Everything else OK.
