We are having a lttle trouble with our electrics, sometimes all the lights work perfectly on the trailer and sometimes we have to fiddle about with the connection. So was wondering if any of you clever people have changed your connection on the car yourself or is it too difficult?
will take about 15 mins, you can always just nip the ends off the back of the plug so the socket has fresh wire in the screw hole, and saves time for rewiring as if you leave a small piece of the colour sleave on you see what wire goes where.
we had a similar problem with our lighting board on our trailer, no matter how much i fiddled with it it would work for a few mins then just wobble itself out a bit.
i just popped into Halfords and bought a new plug bit that goes onto wire of lighting board it comes with colour coded diagram and instructions and now the plug fits into socket on our towbar a treat its a nice snug fit, the old one seamed to work itself loose as though it was a bit smaller than should of been. to change plug only took 5 mins it's easy.
Thanks everyone, I wondered if its the electric point on the car. Our tt lights work perfectly somettimes then one light will work and others wont. It's the same with our erde trailer which makes me think there maybe a problem with the socket on the tow ball.
It sounds like you have a poor earth connection, if you google '12n wiring' you will come up with wiring diagrams so you will know what wires are which. Dismantle both trailer plug & car socket. It everything is wet & corroded, clean & strip back wires to clean copper & fit new plug &/or socket.
