does anyone have any recommendations for tent pegs ,we have an outwell idaho,which is gr8,but the campsite we go(treveague) to is very exposed ,and on a v v windy day/night the tent and front extension nearly took off last year,is there a storm peg or something??

we're off camping in a fortnight and as the forecast isnt looking good i want to be prepared,dont want to be tentless with 2kids!!

yep, tentz  almost got to the taking down stage last yr,but couldnt face waking boys then 3 and 4yrs in middle of night who were oblivious to the storm raging around us! will def take down porch extension if weather 4cast is for strong wind,also will orientate tent differently know i know which direction the wind tends to come from!

I must ask the various manufacturers about the force needed to separate the guy attachments from the fabric of the tent. I really think the peg (or soil rather) would yield first, in which case I would prefer a reliable peg.

In reality I think the wind usually gets underneath the tent and most of the strain is on the pegs holding the flysheet and poles down. The poles usually break first and then the tent just rips apart.  See here. Most damaged tents I have seen, live and in photos and films etc; seem to have most of their guy ropes still attached to the ground.

Of course, if you didn't have guy ropes at all you would end up with this...but at least the tent would be in one piece  

yes,it did seem to be wind lifting up the ground sheet and moving the whole tent about,just watched that scottish clip,yikes!

the following morning all our guys were still attached,but pegs had come loose/out,so will get me some of those delta pegs just in case!
