Hi I'm new here, I have lurked on and off for a month or so but this is my first post...

Well, we made the mistake of getting some Tesco own brand air beds and they were useless, deflated completely in just one night so I'm looking for new decent ones. We'll be going away in July when I'll be 36 weeks pregnant so I really need a reliable air bed! I've been looking at the campingaz convertible quickbed:

http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-1428744-10475506?url=http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Campingaz_Convertible_Quickbed.html

Does anyone know if they're any good? I'm keen on getting a double type one but don't fancy being moved around by my OH fidgeting as I'll be waking up a lot as it is, and I'll need the sleep to run around after our 2 year old!

We have the Outwell Colorado 5 and use the big bedroom so there should be plenty of space there - just we never really have a load of space in the car (need some space-saver tips!) so it can't get anything too bulky.

Hope you can help!

welcome to the boards

I have two campingaz standard air beds and they are fine, i like the big inflation valve which in conjunction with the rechargable pump i have will blow up the bed in no time at all

if i use the campinggaz bed for a long weekend by the time i am packing up on a monday the beds ar a little bit soft but i just keep the pump handy and top up as required

the most popular bed that allways get rave reviews on here is the coleman comfort airbeds I have never used one but they seem very popular

Hi, we haven't had the exact model of air bed you linked to but our first air beds were Camping Gaz ones and they ended up in the bin. Maybe we were unlucky though.
We have used an Intex one for 5 years now and it's be great. You can move around without the other person being catapulted into the air and the double height makes it easy to get up. One of our friends has the Colorado and she bought one afer seeing ours and is also happy with it. It's bigger than most airbeds so you do need to check bedroom size.

I posted a special offer on it the other day -

http://www.cybercheckout.co.uk/products/intex-2-in-1-double-inflatable-bed-300079703.html?commCamId=76&commConId=226093

There is 10% off till Sunday code is EMAIL112

It does take up some room though but sleep is precious.

I have this one - it's good.
The large valves are useful for quick inflation and deflation, and the pillows are useful too.
The only negative point that I can think of is that the loop of plastic on the valve that keeps the cap attached to the valve itself (still with me?) has been pulled off on mine.
This is due to the way in which the valve works. It has a cap as normal, but it also folds back in on itself to create the primary seal. It works very well in terms of stopping the air coming out, but when you go to open it, you have to pull it with quite a lot of force, and the easiest way to do this is with the second sealing cap.
It isn't strong enough for this though, so it breaks and you're left with nothing to help you open the valve.

hlk that bed looks so luxurious but I'm thinking just a little bit too big... I don't think I could convince OH as he would happily just have a roll mat!

Rockford and torce ten - do you have to get the campingaz pump to go with the bed or will any do? If you do have to get it, how is it powered?

No, I bought a generic cigarette lighter powered pump from Millets which works fine.
I do also have a battery powered Campingaz one for when I don't have the car though...

Hi vonpop

Sorry if I was a bit negative on the camping gaz bed. You might want to look at the Coleman Comfort which seems very popular on here..

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coleman-Comfort-Phthalate-Double-Airbed/dp/B0030BGA6O/ref=pd_ts_sg_13?ie=UTF8&s=sports

It's dual chamber so makes for a good nights sleep. Not a bad price either with free delivery.

Millets Windsor had the Coleman for £19.99 last week.  I am back in Windsor this weekend and will update to stock levels.

as above you can use any pump for the bed but it the campingaz one is made for the job and the nozzle fits straight onto the bed without hoses or adaptors

we have the gampingaz rechargeable pump which we charge on the 240v at home and this lasts us about a week and we have used it for beds and  boats and if it runs low it has a 12volt lead to charge from the car

The valve went on our single campingaz bed after about 4 weeks use - not hugely impressed. Maybe we were unlucky too.
