Cadac is like the Weber for campers kinda thing.
Why compromise?
I take my Weber Go Anywhere BBQ camping - can't beat charcoal for BBQ I'd say!

I find the easy clean comments need some clarification. I find cleaning the wire bbq grill and the heat deflector shield and the black tray underneath are a right pain in the backside to clean if your doing bbq on them. The black drip tray gets filled with fat and although it cleans up fairly easy its a messy job. The wire grill is just as much hassle as any other wire grill from a bbq so again messy but no better or worse than others. The heat diffuser though ends up with fat and stuff welded onto it and takes ages to clean up. I've bought mine home from this weekend to clean hoping a spin through the dishwasher removes reduces the scrubbing. Other thought I have is to put it in a bag of oven pride along with the grill.
Our friends have the same model and we had a mutual moaning session about the hassle of cleaning them when used as a bbq.

I agree about the BBQ and charcoal comment. We've had gas BBQ's in the past and they have never quite been the same. Stil not convinced by the cadac.
That's why I like the Cadac as well - I really don't like the BBQ and charcoal taste. Don't like the messing about with charcoal. Don't like the having to light it way before time to get the heat to cook on.
On the rice and pasta thing - we take a Coleman Fold 'N 'Go stove (used to use a suitcase cooker) and if we have rice/pasta with a curry/chilli then cook in a pan on that. Risotto's are good as you have the rice in with the chicken/mushrooms or whatever.
We often have just Nan breads/pitta etc instead of rice or pasta.
Im sure OH did our bbq yesterday on the skottel - quite flat but curved like a wok. It did everything to perfection & the steaks were to die for - once finished it was washed and away in minutes. As for the charcoal bbq this is why we have hung on to our Son of Hibachi or Grilletto as its so small & portable its very useful for a quick burger & sausage bbq home or away so we feel we have the best of both worlds plus it only uses about 4 pieces of charcoal.
We are in the Cadac fan club.....first bit of kit on my list, don't know how we survived without one.
You can cook just about anything on these and i don't understand the cleaning issues, hot soapy water and a brush & everything slides off! They don't have to be heavy either just take the bits you are likely to use.....heres a couple of pics, feel the hunger!
The curry, and there is possibly 6/7 portions in that skottel!
CADAC Safari Chef = waste of money. Don't get hot enough to cook decent thickness of meat. Struggled to cook bacon last week with a light breeze blowing. Bits of plastic regularly fall off, along with the enamel. Often cut myself when washing the thing - razor sharp edges all over it. Larger ones are better. Would not buy another.
I have got to show off my version of the full English for one!

Have you seen my pic of our Fold N Go in my gallery ?
rub it in why don't you
I'm trying to get OH to sort out the bit that lets us refill the little propane bottles. Have a friend with an empty bottle we can have so just need to collect it and then refill it.

Actually hubby reckons that bit will need to be used with bigger cylinders than the one on my picture, I'll get back to you when he's made his blummin mind up. IMO it's worth just getting the hose from the US and treating it like a normal stove. Mind you it is like a proppa cooka innit, none of this flimsy flame stuff for us like being in my own kitchen. And when we are in a rush, OH can play with his Jetboil lol.
