As my camping gear has grown obviously so has the weight I want to carry. I have looked at the car manual and am not sure how to work out how much I can put in the boot. I know there is some kind expert out there who can help me. The manual gives the following details:

Kerb weight -  Total  1215, front 710, back 500

Maximum permissible axle weight  - front 1015, rear 1055

Maximum permissible load on roof rack  - 80

Permissible nose weight - 75

Allowing that people weight would be appox 160 in the front, 90 in the back and the roof box will probably be about 40, what weight can I safely carry in the boot.

No, I don't have a trailer. 300 - 400kg sounds good.

The only time I've come close to overloading the rear of a car was with a Range Rover complete gear box assembly in a Vauxhall Omega estate! Good job it had self levellers fitted.

Serioulsy, with camping kit it is very unlikey you'll have a problem.
