Hi, new to camping and trying to get sorted with equipment. Have been looking at advise given previously on forums and have decided to go for self-inflating mats rather than airbeds. Can't afford the thermarest which appear to be most people's favourites, what do you think of the easy camp? They appear to more my price band. Would be using these for adults and children.

Would  be grateful for any ideas. Thanks

Cant help you with the thermaest have never seen them, but a sad blue face is bad any time but more so if its your first post so welcome and i hope you get an answer.

The thin basic ones like the Easy Camp are fine for kids and lightweight adults but anyone with joint or back problems or a bit bigger might prefer a bit more padding. Lidl and Aldi have both sold bigger and thicker SI mats in the past, quite recently in Aldi I think. Might be worth a look? They are a bit bulkier when rolled up but they're better for grown ups imho. My kids have basic mats (no complaints yet), Hubby has a Thermorest and I have an Aldi one from a couple of years back. Hubby and I really can't tell much of a difference between the Aldi one and the Thermorest. (Got disc problems, don't much like SIs at all come to think of it but can't use an airbed in a pup tent.)

hi i have just bought the costco (£17) ones, but i got them of ebay (£26) decided by the time paid for petrol and the £20 costco membership fee it would work out the same sort cost. they are 7.5cm thick and 70cm wide only tried them on the wooden floor but seem great.

check out "sportura self inflating mats" on the auction site
