In your opinion, whats the best portable charcoal barbecue to buy? We hate the decent disposable ones as the they tent to burn anything other than thin burgers and sausages. looking for a good value compact item thats hardwearing. Any suggestions??? dont want to spend a fortune though
Well, "best" and "cheap" aren't always easy bedfellows . But we use and rate highly Weber's Go Anywhere.
It has all the Weber trademarks of quality with a long lasting enamelled finish.
After the barby it doubles as a fire, and for transport it's legs fold up over the lid and secure it. When not in use the tongs etc live under the lid.
They're generally around £45 but someone recently posted a source cheaper.
Hi, As many here will say there is only one BBQ worth buying Its the COBB. Not going to get into the cobb cadac debate, but if you want somthing that will last its the only answer the cost may look high but after nearly 6 years ours is still in use, My sister on the other hand has spent more on replaceing her bbq every season or so. The big thing with the cobb is versatility you realy can roast bake and bbq all in one ours used to be stored in the van but now lives in the kitchen as we use it so often at home.
Well I would without a doubt say the Son of Hibachi or Grilletto as its known by in the UK. Its really compact but has a fair cooking area, doesn't use much charcoal, heats up really quickly and has its own snuff bag so you can pack it away quite quickly afterwards. Oh and after you have finished cooking you close it up and it self cleans brilliant!!!
I do like my Weber, but in an emergency the Marks and Spencer disposable is pretty good. You can actually - with a bit of faffing around - adjust the height of the grill. And the fire stays at cooking tempreture for longer.
The weber is a serious piece of kit, we have an aussie friend who married an american air force man and when they left UK she gave me her weber and its a great BBQ she swears by it and we have had it now over 6 years it really is that good but knowing how to set up a good BBQ is the key..
We bought a cheap bucket BBQ from B&M so we could use it for a fire afterwards and thats just as good aslong as you set it up proper, too many people load them up with coals and it just flounders..
I got one in Homebase yesterday, reduced from £24.99 (in store price) down to £10. Havent had it out the box yet but seems ok from the picture. Seems ok for what we want it for. link below, sorry cant put picture, no idea how to ;o)
We got this barbeque in Tesco yesterday. Reduced to £9.50. Not tried it yet, but it seems sturdy enough. And at that price I can't complain! It's a decent size - 18" diameter.
I picked up a decent size one in Lidl for the grand sum of £5.99 and it seems pretty good to me. It has long legs (well chair height so you can sit and cook) a reasonably sized cooking surface (it will be used to feed 10 people in august so it needs to be pretty good) and a variable height....and if it doesn't survive long who cares...at £5.99 I can afford to replace it next year!!!
We would never leave home without the Cobb, it's so much more than a Barbecue!
But we do also have the Outwell Cahors. Folds down teeny tiny and it's great to chuck a firelog on afterwards to have a little "campfire" I admit it's not the sturdiest or really built to last years but it's relatively cheap, and it takes up so little space.
