Hi, I hope you may have some advice for us. My husband and I are on the rather large size (no sniggers please...). We currently use single airbeds when we camp, but are thinking of buying beds to lift us off the ground.

Does anyone have any suggestions for tried and tested beds that they would be happy to recommend?

I have seen this one in camping international and it seems to fit the bill, but would be happy to consider others too. http://www.camping-intl.com/products/accessories/camp-beds/extreme-comfort-camp-bed/

Looking forward to your replies.
Deb

I've fancied one of those - or a Carp bed - for a long long time but just can't justify it especially now we have the fat airics.

I know someone who has these and they love then - say they are very comfy and get a good nights sleep (Nash do a few different ones) but they are rather £££
This one's a bit cheaper

Hi Deb

Welcome to the club of us cuddley campers  Me and the hubby are on the chunky side and we have a Royal Double airbed. Just got back from a weekend away and the air bed coped with us fine, it was really comfy.

I think i would feel unsafe with a camp bed - thinking the material would rip or the legs would go in all directions!

IMHO the best camp bed you can get is something like this:

http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/shop/camping-equipment/airbeds-camp-beds/strong-army-4-leg-issue-olive-686939.html

Both the side framing and the legs are spring steel, so it adapts to fit you really well. An they are built for squaddies, so normal camping doesn't bother them.

Don't buy the cheapies from argos with a tubular frame tho, they fall into the 'cheap but not a bargain' category.

My opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it.

A Vote for the Nash Indulgence Wideboy bedchair, it's better than my King Size bed at home for comfort!

I think the Nash range is a little too £££££ for me. I only camp once or twice a year, so don't want to spend a fortune - even though they look great.

I think that I would feel vulnerable on something with only 4 legs, as I would be worried about sitting in the middle of it.

And a double airbed is a BIG no no! Have tried that before - every time one of us turned over, the other was catapulted off the other side...LOL

Have you considered self inflating mats?

When we last visited Camping International they had some Royal Easy Up Camp Beds. We all had a try and found them really comfy so are planning on going back to get some.

If you see a family struggling to put up the tent then it must be us!

Hi , I have just returned from a week long camp out. me and my BF bought double Vango self inflater, with a thin double duvet on top and a feather double over us, and have been extremely comfortable and toasty warm. I was thrilled.
