Whilst away this weekend we saw a car and on it's roof it had a slimline Thule box on one side and bike attachments on the other.

So they had both bikes and roof box up there, iyswim

I've just had a look on the Thule website but could see it.

Does anyone else have this combo?  or even understand what I'm talking about because I've explained that rubbish!

I have one as we now take too many bikes for the boot rack and I don't like having them on the camping trailer. Mine is the Thule Atlantis 600. Mine is in the middle with 1 bike rack on each side as i find it easier to load the bikes that way.

We use a wide-ish box - h with one carrier by the side, there a number of narrower boxes that will allow the use of 2 carriers.

It is easier (depending on the car/width of bars/box/bike carriers)  if you use areo bars (the Aluminium bars with the slot in) otherwise you can have issues witht he clamps for the box or carriers clashing with the clamp for the roofbar fixing

We have until this year always had two bikes on top , side by side, with long thin roofbox.

Having switched to a trailer we have now got 4 bikes on top and no roofbox...until we buy more equipment and need to think again

dib-dib-dib it takes a little bit of practice and it helps that I am 6'1 and quite stong!

The carrier one on the outter is a Volvo one with a hydraulic lifting arm. It's a pretty cool bit of kit!

Looking at the box and bike set-up myself but once I've weighed everything up v's the recommended roof limit of 75kg I can only put 4kg worth of gear in the box!

How stringent is this weight limit as surely the car is able to withstand nore than 75kg?

I reckon if I loading the box with what I would like the total weight is just under 90kg. Will I get a way with it?

Any thoughts/advice gratefully rcvd!
