I have used one in my porch awning . Mine is an apache porch with the steel poles just like a regular awning.
A standard size inner tent fits , the awning is 2.5mx 3m, so plenty of room for it, but is too short to reach the poles ,but we have found this found this to be the case in the full awning as well .
I tied a length of spare guyline to the elastic to make it long enough. Or you could use an elastic bungee cord.
Some of the lightweight porches with flexi poles may have to have brand specific inners to reach toggle points to hang them .
