I got one of these last year and think its great.  Used it for home made kebabs, gammon steaks and other chicken grilling recipes. Superb.

You can use in the kitchen too I sat mine on the stove with the cooker hood on and it worked great.  It doesnt get hot underneath so you you could use it on a worksurface near your extractor.

Does anyone know if you could put lava rocks on the grill to make it similar to a charcoal bbq?

I hate being a killjoy but I posted awarning about one of these blowing up a few weeks ago.  It would seem thet the user switched it off and then disconnected the cannister, as per the instructions, the canister leaked and kerboom, seven  people hospitalised.  Whilst their have been accidents with camjping gas type stoves it is usually because a numpty disconnects a puncture type cylinder before it is empty!  The reliability of cartridge stoves is uncertain.  Please see following links and draw your own conclusions.

Hi. Yes we bought one of these from Robert Dyas in July this year and used it twice.

The first time was on a campsite it took ages to cook 6 large and then 6 smaller sausages - with greese everywhere! (all over the table, etc...).
We cleaned it and then tried a few days later to use it on the beach at St Ives where I cooked six burgers - and watched the paint on the device catch fire!

My view of this product is that its a great idea but actually really flimsy and badly made.

I returned to Robert Dyas for a full refund in light of the paint catching fire.
