I have an oldskool 5 pole windbreak, looks awful and is hard to get in and out of the ground. I want to buy a modern replacement and just wondered whats the best one and where to buy? Are the ones that go into awning channel best?

Personally I'd stick with the 'oldskool' wind breaks. Get a decent fabric one with thick wooden stakes. I've had/got one of the metal pole ones for my Khyam and I don't use it any more since buying the 'oldskool' one. Too fiddly and more guy lines to peg out.

i stick to old syle as well and lidl and aldi will have theres on sale this week for about £8 any day now

Blue diamond ones are good

Still have the wooden poles but material is far superior

I second the blue diamond ones - great bit of kit and can but slipped into awning rail too!!

Was about to post the same - stick with the old skool ones.
We've only today had our old ones out of the outhouse and checked over ready for this summers holiday.
I have one of the Khyam ones with a 'roof'. Used it once and it's such a faff to put up never used it again.

Same here, stick with the good old one.  I've got a Vango one that takes ages to put up then you go and fall over all the guy ropes that you need to use to keep it standing.

Is it possible to get the 'canvas' stripy windbreaks? All the wooden stripy ones seem to be nylon. Our old wooden ones were kept in the shed and have finally perished.

haven't seen canvas ones for umpteen years. Shame really. Ours are the plastic one .
The ones in Alsi next week ....... canvas or plastic? I'm presuming plastic at that price.

Most beach shops have the 5, 8 or 10 pole windbreaks in around this coast just now.When we had a van i took the end pole out and substituted it with a piece of washing line, folded it over twice and it fitted into the awning channel easily. it was fiddly and i took out the next pole as well but put that 1 back to put it up after it was fitted.  Amazingly it worked and 1 at each end kept the 2 puppies securely within the 'yard'  they created!   I have made more since from old tents/canvas/ tweed? [don't ask !] and they are very simply made.
