As I understand it, I wouldnt get hung up on the maxcold range because the marine models are just as good.
Mine was the smallest costco had in stock (marine 52 34cm x 60m) about £25.

Thanks for the advice about how best to cool it down.
Nice idea about the bubble wrap.

p.s. Does anyone know if those silver emergency blankets would help? I was thinking cos they are small & compact, they wouldnt take up much beer space :-)

We have two Igloos a Maxcold 70 bought 5 years ago and a what I call my fun size Marine 25.
I always pre chill with ice blocks the day before, Departure day I load with chilled and frozen and un-frozen food drink etc using frozen water bottles as ice blocks and cubed ice to fill up any spaces. It is important, at least at the beginning of the trip not to have too much free space in the cooler. The Maxcold 70 has even been known to freeze food stored in it.
Another big plus is its fantastic for parties just load with beer wine soft drinks and cubed ice, freeing the fridge up for the food!
I find the Marine 25 is great for two for a weekend, or just days out, same impressive performance.

I'll give the silver blankets & some bubblewrap a go then. Thanks

BTW. I saw the silver emergency survival blankets in poundland 2 for £1. If anyones interested.

They also had those led pegs that you see for about £5 in camping shops & an emergency shelter both for £1 which I thought was good.
